I do often wonder just why they're so strict with the online distribution of their series. The older ones in particular like the two Matsumoto shows and FoTNS are pretty much worthless in the modern anime marketplace simply due to their age.
Surely maximizing what little money they're ever going to get out of these series would be a prudent course of action? Then again, Toei has had a particularly uncanny knack of annoying as many people as possible with their bizarre edicts over the years, so them making a logical decision is a fairly absurd notion at this point.
