Funimation To Release Dragonball Season 1 in September!?

After listening to the daizex podcast this week I'm pretty confident in saying that the Wal-Mart listing isn't outright false.

According to wal-mart.com season 1 of Dragonball will Be avalible this Septeraber! Heres the link Below!

FUNimation should've played good cop, bad cop.

So...what you're saying is...FUNimation lied to everybody at Anime Next?

Maybe I didn't lose my 7,000 post bet after all.

Well I sure hope it's the actual first season. But wide screen? I really hope that isn't true. This is the first time it would be available uncut in the US don't botch the release by making it faux-widescreen. Unlike DBZ this dub was always satisfactory. I suppose either way I'd buy it.

Well, all the Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT releases are over, and with Shin Chan no longer being released, and no news on Dragon Ball Kai or DVRAB of Fullmetal Alchemust: Brotherhood yet, my only constant purchases from FUNimation are One Piece. I wouldn't feel right if I wasn't giving them more money on a regular basis. Thank you, FUNi. I didn't want that money anyway.

How about this? If the news announcement of Dragon Ball season sets are true, the Toon Zone "Anime forum" becomes the Toon Zone "Dragon Ball" forum for one day!

Well the Daizex mentioned that the KidMark listing for the edited "Dragonball" DVD (first 13 episodes and movie) is missing from many retailers, and that when the listing for first remastered "DBZ" set came FUNimation said something similar.

That thing was still in print? I rarely even see that in stores anymore. Hell, when I saw it at the defunct Sam Goody store once, I thought that it was overstock from before.

This is good news. I already own all of the Dragon Ball sets, including the Uncut first 13 episodes and first movie imported from Australia, but I will probably pick this up, if it is indeed really being released. If it is true, I'm sure we'll see some sort of solicit from FUNimation. If it turns out that FUNimation has not obtained the license to release the Emperor Pilaf/Saga of Goku/First 13 episodes plus movie 1 in an Uncut format in America, it is quite possible that they could be releasing Dragon Ball in new sets, starting with the Tournament Saga. Most of the original 2-Disc Dragon Ball sets are out of print and going for outrageous prices on eBay, anyway. A new print run would be most welcome. However, if FUNimation insists on releasing Dragon Ball in a widescreen format, it would be most appreciated if the show not be tampered with. This means no cutting out footage. Adding footage is fine, and I would not mind a restoration. Restored and New footage=good. Cuts=bad.

Let's hope FUNi posts some new soon.

Well They most likely will be Widescreen & Remastered (which is fine with me cinsidering i have a widescreen TV)

As For the content on the Discs my Guess would be the Entire Pilaf & World Tornament Sagas.

I don't see why everyone complains so much, we should just be happy to have the Dragonball Series as season boxed sets I mean Funi wasn't obligated to release DB/DBZ or GT As season sets on DVD, but they did! Fans should be happy enough with that & Quit whining, no offense but Im really getting tired of all the negative fans of franchises these days, be it Anime, Sonic, Star Wars, Marvel comics, ETC. People these Days are just Way too ungreatful.

(I mean you could live in one of those countries where the Only Anime DVRAB you have to Choose from our Pokemon or Hello Kitty, Be glad you live in a country that has companies that will Dub & Release so many animes for you, Even If they Do mess up sometimes (Or put the Dub of one of your series on Hiatus for awhile....)
