FUNi has Tsubasa OVAs? (Vic slipped)

You're right, that sounRAB like a tell. If it's true, awesome. The OVA's are extremely well made and told. I'll definitely buy em if they come.

Screaming fangirls=almost not worth hearing slip. It wouldn't be worth hearing the slip if Tokyo Revelations wasn't so damn awesome.

I wonder if this means that Funi's going to try to get the Negima OAV's as well (and personally, I have a good idea for a character that Vic could play in that series).

1. They are part of a publicly traded company (Navarre,) so they could catch flack from investors/regulatory agencies for leaking information that could have an effect on stock price. This is part of why FUNimation tries to do stuff like the Roll-Out Riot (public announcement of properties,) and why even when they push stuff at a con, they often push press releases out on the same day - they could get in legal trouble otherwise.

2. FUNimation may be under contract with their Japanese partners to not announce the title until a certain date or until certain other conditions have been met. Violation of this by a party connected to FUNi could result in anything from monetary penalties to loss of the license.

3. FUNi has in the past and may very well still put VAs under riders that in the event of certain public transgressions jeopardizes their future employment with the company. In short, Vic could be kicked out of the FUNi casting pool entirely for leaking a license because of the contracts he signs when taking a project on. To put it another way, he probably signs a non-disclosure agreement when taking a dub on, especially when the title hasn't be announced officially.

In short, VAs have a lot of reasons to keep mum about projects, especially at events like anime cons, until they've been fully admitted to, especially when it comes to FUNimation.

As I said in the AoD thread, Funimation should play durab on this one and not say anything until they're ready to officially announce something. Vic clearly didn't say anything intentionally (heck, I don't think the person who posted the panel caught it) and it could be creatively spun, if need be, as if he's just mistaken (didn't say the last part over on AoD but hey, if Funi'd like to borrow any of this go for it!).

I think most fans who really think about these matters can read between the lines but until more information is officially released it should be treated as con chatter, the way I see it.

Hm.
I never heard that.
I just remeraber a rally to get Vic to play Fai.
Psh.. Vic's fan(girl)s have to much say.
Otherwise he might not have been cast Tamaki.

No, Al in the first FMA was voiced by Aaron Dismuke, Vic voiced Ed

So Vic, slipped the license on the Tsubasa OVA's, while I like Tsubasa, Yikes, I think Vic just unintentionally tarnished his career by doing this

I've not heard that spin on that one before, either. While I do seem to remeraber Vic replaced Chris on that show I seem to remeraber Patton was upset at Funi over something (losing the roll could have been part of the problem but something I read later made me think it was not the main problem), along with not begin able to handle the long commutes between Houston and Ft Worth at the time. That seems to be the reason why he quit working for Funi for a few years.

In addition to being a violation of non-disclosure agreements and the other stuff Karl mentioned, OAD's are limited edition OVA's that are sold in Japan exclusively with a specific tankoubon, in this case a volume of the Tsubasa manga. The Japanese do not easily license limited edition items to outside markets.

IF FUNimation has licensed the Tsubasa OAD's, that would be a major win because that would mean they've convinced the Japanese to overcome their natural negative tendency when it comes to gaijin markets and step outside of their comfortable (and in my opinion, stupid) business model. It would also mean that FUNimation could score the Negima! OAD's, which are what I'd love to have.

So, assuming FUNimation did have them and Vic did let the cat out of the bag, depending on the terms of the non-disclosure agreements signed, it could be a complete deal breaker in addition to any fines FUNimation might have to pay (though that's a worst-case scenario, but I've seen American companies execute clauses to get out of contracts for similar breaches before).
