Funi has Dragonball Kai (Confirmed)

Trying to get confirmation from other sources but according to daizex, Navarre announced during an earnings conference call that Funi has DBK.

I'm willing to bet 90% of the voice actors are exactly the same, including Freiza.

I do not believe FUNI will re-cast any character to make them sound totally different than what the english dub has known for years.
 
Kyle Hebert flies over to Texas all the time. Hell, he probably already recorded lines for Dragon Ball Kai when he visited over Christmas break.

Really, just this. I have no doubt that maybe Linda Young must sound fine to most of you guys but I'd rather Freeza be voiced by an actual guy trying to sound creepy than an older woman trying to sound like a guy trying to sound creepy (and succeeding but not in a good way)

And maybe if this wasn't FUNi who puts out amazing dubs every month, I wouldn't bother but this is FUNi. I know they can do it [strike]Or else I wouldn't be buying anything and supporting their dubs[/strike] so it's really just a matter of "Hey, do they feel like casting somebody else or not? Maybe if the stars are aligned right"
 
I'm going to a take a long shot here. I bet that there might be an chance that Cartoon Network could even broadcast Dragon Ball Kai. Still in the end I will only be interested if there is a a more accurate dub. That is all I ask for, but hopefully that idea won't be thrown out for a rushed release.
 
I will be buying both, but if you only want to buy one, I would recommend Kai. The Dragon Box packaging is great, but Kai will be in HD on Blu-ray, will likely have a new dub, and will be much fewer episodes to buy, and without the inflated price for the packaging, and chances are if you're not enough of a fan to buy both anyway, you're not enough of a fan too need that packaging, nor the filler that multiplies the time of the story by 2-3 in Z.
 
Am I the only one who doesn't really seem to mind the fact that Sabat voices so many characters? I mean sure I can tell when he's playing a character, but it doesn't really bother me much. Still, I wouldn't mind replacing some of his roles with other actors, though I am quite accustomed to his voices for most of the characters.

As for recasts? As said before, make Frieza not sound like an elderly woman (i.e. give him an actor who ISN'T an elderly woman), and give Puar a voice that doesn't sound like nails on a chalkboard. Heck, make Monica Antonelli use her Chiaotzu voice for Puar too, I don't care, as long as it's not the voice she currently uses.
 
Honestly, Funi shoudln't waste more money for more Dragon Ball stuff that has been already released.

Besides, Kai's violence is edited, and the only cool new thing about it is the opening.
 
While true, was the discussion of the two series' differences ever about the story, one adapted from Dragon Ball the Manga?


Of course, as cut down as Dragon Ball Kai is, it still retains a quite a bit of filler and rearranged scenes. And vast amounts of violence edits.

So we'll be seeing our first Kai release within the next five months? Dang, that's pretty soon, actually. Looking forward to more info!
 
Now, I love Christopher Sabat. I do. Big fan of his, I am, however the man does not have the range to do more than maybe one or two characters in a series, and that's that. Here's a list of the characters I've been able to tell are him, but there might be a few errors in here so feel free to point those out:

1. Vegeta
2. Piccolo
3. Yamcha
4. Piccolo Daima
 
Why honestly do we need to pay for the same story for the umpteenth time? Cut fillers or not, it's still the same show. I hate to say it, but FUNimation planning on releasing this right after the Dragon Boxes sounRAB is starting to bring back flasrabroadacks of Evangelion: Platinum Edition vs. 10th Anniversary Edition which wound up putting ADV in a negative light.

Why should FUNI wait when DBKai is new and they can make money off it?

I just don't know what I'm going to do. It breaks my heart to miss out on some of my favorite stories, yet I don't want to sit through bad pacing.
