Alright kid. I've driven enough vehicles to know that even the worst reverse lights will help you see a vehicle behind you. And just a tip for next time: brakelights work quite well for close range rearward illumination also, just touch the brakes and it can make a huge difference. And my comment still stands that if there's any doubt as to how much space you have, either assume very little, or get out and check.
I agree with Icarus and Uber, also. If it was that fucking late, and you didn't want to wake anyone up, you should've left a note on the windshield. Putting off talking to the owner isn't helping your case at all. The person has possibly even already called their insurance company and left a message about the incident, in which case you're quite likely screwed if/when you do own up to it.
Also, how the hell could you see "no damage" to the car when you couldn't fucking see it in the first place? Did you spin your car around to shine your headlights on it before you left?
Do you know where you hit the car? If you hit a bumper, it's very likely that there's just scratches on it, also. But if you hit a fender or door, there's a damn good chance that there's at least a small dent.
Damn kids these days.
