From E50 to N73 or N93

I'm mainly concerned with menu speed (specifically creating, opening, reading and replying to SMS).

1) E50 to N73 - Will I notice the speed boost? The N73 is supposedly faster because it uses a dual-CPU architecture compared to the single-CPU architecture of the E50.

1) E50 to N93 - I will notice the speed boost (obviously because of the faster CPU). However, will it be a night & day difference?

Yes, you will definately notice it on the N93. Much faster, especially startup...I have clocked the boot time and I got it to boot in 15secs or less.
Not to mention with the N93 you will gain a lot of extra features: Upnp, tv-out, greaaaaaaat video, autofocus and optical zoom.
Not to mention wonderfull 3D graphics.

yep but n93 is big and bulky so that depends. n73 on the other hand is a small compact powerful multmedia device but has a terrible slippery about to break joystick.

Dual CPU? Everytime my wife uses my E50 she complains how it is faster than her N73.

Dont get too caught up in any marketing hoo-doo. N73 does not run faster than E50. The N93, that is legeitimately faster. Also bigger and heavier though.

I would be concerned that you are shortlisting such different machines. E50 is a slimness and battery life play. In return for that blessing, you ditch the 3G, bigger screen and 3.2Mp camera of the N73.

E50 is also more of a "tool" - feels better in the hand, the keybaord is better positioned than E50 and the weight distribution too. E50 is for the old -fashioned person who values all that over ghee-whiz features. E50 is the simple, basic classic that people will still be using in 2-3 years, wheras N73 is the "of the moment" plasticy thing will be dumped the moment N95 or new flaour of the month comes out.

N93 doesnt compromise on any of that - and adds speed and high quality video cam. Much bulkier size and weight is the cost.

Totally different machines, all of them. Just pick your spot carfully - they are not at all for same type of person.

Try the s40 6300, if speed is really your concern. It has the latest version of s40 (call reminders, timed profiles, recurring alarms, 1,000 contacts), decent memory/battery, 2mp camera, 16m colour screen, etc. and is quite reasonably priced.

If you do need s60, stick with e50 for a while. Neither the n73 nor the n93 upgrades are worth it IMHO, unless you need the better multimedia features. If you do not mind a slider, the e65 with wi-fi is supposed to be nice also.
