Hi All,

Was going through my old VHS films, , well basically throwing them away , :P,

when I came across Fright Night, well just seeing the cover , brought a smile to my face so i ordered the DVd, and hey presto couple of days later , was watching the film again.

I dont know why I love this film, I mean the acting is bad, quite hammy at times, sfx arnt the best , by 80's standard, but the film , there is just something about it which i Really like

Roddy mcdowell is excellent in it, I lke the soundtrack , pity cant seem to find a CD for it

anybody else like this?

think this is one of the most underrated vampire films

also heard somewhere that they are thinking about remaking this, hope they dont, though

anybody else think this?
 
This was one of my 1980s faves. A great vampire movie.

Made even more interesting because one of the stars who played the geeky guy became a hard core gay porn star in later life and was surrounded by rumours of rent-boyism.

I worked in a cinema when this opened, and I remember it was winter and I had a long overcoat I wore for when I was outside working the queue's .

When this film opened, the film company gave us some plastic fangs (there were all sorts of publicity gimmicks like that in those days), and they were actually pretty realistic looking.

Anyway, one day I decided to have a laugh...while the film was on, I went and stood next to one of the balconies, with my long black coat, fangs at the ready...and during a tense moment in the film, I just turned my head slowly sideways, rolled my eyes to the back of my head and bared my 'fangs'.

Well...it took us ages to get the smell out of those seats, let me tell you!

But it was the highlight of the day for me!

Then of course there was the time I dressed as Beetlejuice and walked around the cinema carrying a 'severed head'...
 
Great, great 80s vampire flick.

Perfect performances, wry humour (loved Jerry Dandridge trashing Charlie's car), 'evil' Ed, the gorgeous 'Amy' and of course, the brilliant Roddy McDowell as the the magnificent Peter Vincent.

Fave scenes; the nightclub, the 'vamping' of Ed, the transformation sequence of Ed from wolf (also touching) and the whole vampire test. And those classic lines..."You have to have faith, for that to work, Mr Vincent!".

Great film....but don't even go there with the very poor sequel. Think I'll have to dig the classic film out for a near Halloween watch, I think.:)
 
Not seen this one for a while.

I don't remember the acting being particularly hammy but fitting perfect into what the movie is - comedy horror.I remember the horror being actually quite effective at times.

I feel it got the balance perfect.The Peter Vincent character was great (and superbly played) and Chris Sarandon made a wonderful suave vampire.Having a generic dumb teenager as the central character complemented this movie.
 
I grew up on these cheesy 70's and 80's horror films too...they where always great fun towatch.

Regarding the music, there have been a few releases that contain some of the Fright Night Music.

The seductive Sax track "Come to Me" is on the "Vampire Circus and Return of Dracula" Silva Screen CD which I have.

Incidentally, the music to "Fright Night" was written by "The Terminator" composer Brad Fiedel.

Fright Night reminRAB of the same genre of films such as Creepshow from the 80s. You don't get that feel to films anymore and Fright Night is well worth watching again and again.
 
I love that film :p I also like Fright Night 2.

Funny how someone made a post of this I was just thinking of FN and how cool it would be if it was one of those old films that was re-made maybe with someone like shia laBeouf as Charlie lol

When I'm programming I usually have FN playing on one of my screens I'm a big fan !!:D
