Friggin' Dot!

OK, can anyone tell me: a) what the dot in the red circle is for, and b) how the &$^#^ to get rid of it!

Picture of The Dot

Also, does anyone have a copy of the T5 manual that is normally loaded on the T5? For some reason mine disappeared... Not the 6MB one you can download from Palm, but the one that goes on the T5 itself.

Danke! M2

The T5 has a dot plus a vertical line - this signifies that you are about to type a capital letter (shift indicator). To remove it - backspace.....sometimes will work.

Do you have TealScript or some other Graffiti enhancement installed - it could be an indicator for that program.

Knew about the dot/vertical line indicating a capital letter, but this is just a dot. And it will not go away with a backspace (I already tried). In addition to the Memos app, it also shows up in my calendar, contacts list, expense, notepad, tasks, and Word To Go...basically all the "core apps" except for the last one (W2G). And I don't have any graffiti programs other than Graffiti 2 v5.2P (powered by Jot v 1.3.P1).

It is not a big deal but I am wondering why it just suddenly showed up and won't go away...

Well I kinda figured you'd know about the 'shift' function.....initially thought you had a TX and thought maybe it was different then a T5. My bad for scanning instead of reading.

The only way I can get a dot like that to show up is with Teal Script and it indicates that the following character is going to be a "special" character.

I am at a loss on this one.....unless you somehow had TS installed and deleted it without "disabling" first...someone else is going to have to jump in.

EDIT: I can get a temporary "dot" by etching a vertical up stroke (which is the special character command) but it's only temporary while using G2. It's permanently on the screen using TS when running a vert line - it'll wait for ever until cancelling or backspacing.

I'm also thinking that it might be related to formats in preferences?

Oddly enough, I had to do a soft reset last night when SplashTravel went 'tango uniform' on me, and it cleared itself. It was no big deal, but these small things annoy me as I want to know what caused them and how to avoid them in the future.

Thanks for the help, I guess it will just fall in the 'unsolved mysteries' category.

Cheers! M2
