I have multiple friends this semester getting back thousands and thousands of dollars that they don't have to pay back through financial aid. I don't know if its a grant or something but it happens for them every semester. One is around 8000$ that he doesen't have to pay back! how is this possible? they say its because their parents don't make much money. I'm working and going to college independently and make like $12,000 a year and have lived on my own for years, non dependent. When I filed for financial aid years ago I didn't get any "refunds". What is this all about??? also I know one of them is using great lakes financial aid, the same as I have.
