Friday 13th (Remake)

Well plotwise there's hardly a yawning chasm of difference between that and the original.

However, the aniticpated combination of CGI blood and gore, ADHD camera and editing, and teen protagonists 1,000 times more obnoxious than those of the original, will keep me well away.

You're joking!

The original is up there next to "Halloween" as one of the best slasher films of all time. It's brilliant.

The new one is shit in every possibly way.
Are we meant to believe that Jason would really take someone hostage?
He would never have done that in the earlier movies.

Whilst I agree with you in some ways, I also disagree with you in a lot of ways too. F13 whilst a huge franchize in horror and one firmly in the top three in popularity is nowhere near the likes of Halloween. F13 was always poorly written, poorly acted and was never anything special. Sure they could be entertaining at times if you wanted to laugh at the pure stupid deaths that got reused every single time with only one or two original kills in each film.

As for the remake, I try to avoid remakes like the plague but my other half pretty much forced me to sit down and watch it a few months back, and will say it was neither better or worse than the original, but then you have to combine the first four films from the original franchize to get the remake.

For me f13 will always take a back seat to ANOES and Halloween.

Aside from Donald Pleasence and Jamie Lee, I always thought the acting in "Halloween" was terrible. The two girls who played Lynda and Annie should have been ashamed of themselves.
The acting skills of those in "Friday The 13th" weren't so hot either, but for me - I thoroughly enjoyed it as much as I did "Halloween".

I normally avoid remakes too but as I was curious about "Friday" I had to watch it. "Halloween re-make was really awful, Infact, I dislike anything that Rob Zombie touches. So I don't expect much from "Halloween 2".
Same goes for "Nightmare On Elm Street" since platinum dunes seems to make a habbit of ruining anything they touch. Look at what they did to Texas Chainsaw...

I completely agree with you horror acting is never great, but the acting in F13 has always been some of the worst in horror. I always ranked the top three as NOES, Hallowenn, F13 in originality, storylines, and acting.

The Halloween remake or reimaging as they call it was horrible, I agree Zombie is not a great writer or director and am also not expecting alot from Halloween 2. My only praise for the guy is that he brought Danielle Harris back to the franchize.

And I hate PD with a passion, if I could get a hold of the idiots at that company I might as well befeatured in a slasher film because I more than likely would try and kill them for taking huge dumps on horror and on my childhood. And no matter what I will not be watching the NOES remake.

But the original was pure shit. It lacked suspense, originality and a good script. The one good thing it had going for it was the mystery of who the murderer was, and they blew that by not introducing Mrs Voorhees as a supporting character early on so when she finally did appear and then 30 seconRAB later turn out to be the murderer it wasn't exactly the twist they tried to portray it as.

The best thing about the film was the final scene of Jason jumping out the lake, which was far better than the rest of the film deserved.

It's not even a particularly good Friday 13th movie, they didn't really perfect the formula until parts 3 and 4, so it really has nothing to commend it at all.

I liked the remake, and normally i hate remakes (such as the Halloween remake which was crap). It didn't do anything particularly new, but it was good seeing Jason on the big screen again after the shitfest that was Jason X...
