French cinema: The Piano Teacher

[Hey Diddle Diddle!]

Did anyone watch this film last night. It just proved to me more that French cinema is so much better than what American or British cinema have to offer.

It was a film about a very repressed middle aged piano teacher, who had these violent sexual fantasies. If that was an American film, it would have been laced with too nudity, but this film wasn't. The whole focus went on to the characters.

oh i saw it at the cinema. i genuinely found parts of it shocking

The bit where she had her breakdown in the bed with her mother, I found absolutely awful. I had to switch over. That is the type of thing I find comfortable, not something ridiculous like OTT violence what American cinema find shocking.

I watched this the other night as there was nothing else on. I wasn't expecting to like it much but after about 15 mins I felt I had to keep watching it. Very powerful indeed.
