I heard about this promotion and would like some help verifying. A friend of mine works at one of the call centers and saw this promotion for RIM/BB Developers. Basically, they're trying to get devices into developers hands so that they can create applications (and sell more BB's I guess). However, the promotion is open to anyone with the correct "campaign code". Apparently there's a limit of 5 devices per person, so big companies can't take advantage of this one. Here's what I found out:
BB 8100 (PEARL) [FREE after rebate]
BB 8700 [FREE after rebate]
BB 8320 (CURVE) [$49 after rebate]
BB 8800 (GPS) [$99 - no rebate]
BB 8820 (GPS/WiFi) [$199 - no rebate]
Here's the key: You have to call the Business Direct number and mention either the "promo code" or the "campaign name":
Business Direct: 1-866-464-8662, option 3
Campaign Name: RIM Blackberry Offer
Promo code: 7490TMOFAV
I think it's for a 2-year term, but she said that some people ask about a 1-year term and are allowed to get it. Not sure. I think the shipping is free and the activation fee should be waived too.
I'm going to get a second line, but I'm trying to decide which device to get. Already got the Pearl, but might want a Curve for the full keyboard/UMA.
