FREE maintenance for new 2008/2009 models

Thats is awesome.

Ducati announced that all new and previously unregistered 2008 and 2009 Ducati models purchased between June 4, 2009 to August 31, 2009 will come with free maintenance for first 2 services (at 600 and 7500 miles). That's a saving of $1000 minimum.

The program is known as "Ducati Full Factory Support".

It looks like they are only doing it for the 2008 and 2009 models that are being bought this summer only. And you have to buy the bike between those dates. So if you already have a 2008-09 then it wont apply to you. This is what I am getting from reading. So dont quote me on it.

My dealer said this FREE maintenance is only good for the first year. So to take full advantage you would need to log 7,500 miles before your first year of ownership.

For some that is great, for others to include myself riding 7,500 miles in a year is unlikely. Its cool for the first service though! Well only if your dealer dont have a long line of services to do before your turn. I hate leaving my bike at the shop for a oil change that I can do myself.

I am starting think this might be another gimmick to move bikes durring the summer while the economy is slow. Dont really see a whole ton of people riding 7,500 miles within a year. I bought my Duc more as a toy or hobby than a main mode or transportation.

Dealers(manufacturers) always put out some type of incentive to push product. I'm sure this is no different.
I need to bring my bike in for the 600 mile service.
I'm wondering what this is going to cost me??
