Free IPv6 News Servers

yes it is
Well I made the IPv6 tests some time ago.
Now I remember that I couldn't create the "tunnelbroker", did the same thing today and it said:
Error: Your IPv4 endpoint is unreachable or unstable. Please make sure ICMP is not blocked.
I have windows firewall turned off.
Using Windows Vista x64 Business

Yo guys im new to this forum and to newsgroups and i would like to say thanks for all the useful information in this thread

I do need some help though, my go6 tunnel only establishes a connection when I have my ESET Smart Security firewall disabled. I was wondering if you all are aware of some general firewall settings that would allow me to have both the tunnel and the client up at the same time?:frusty:

any help would be sincerely appreciated

if the gateway6 tunnel GUI generic "IPv6-in-IPv4 Tunnel" setting isnt working for you on the primary PC connected to your ISP WAN BB from the outset due to your current firewall settings
(you did authorise the client app through the firewall and remember to also install the windows xp IPv6 dual stack ? ,“Open a cmd.exe window –> Type: “netsh interface ipv6 install” and press enter” )
the very next thing to try is to go into
gateway6/advanced/tunnel Mode and change it from the generic
"IPv6-in-IPv4 Tunnel" to the 3rd option
"IPv6-in-IPv4 Tunnel NAT Traversal"

that will probably get passed your current firewall settings , but you really need to read up and work out what you need to change in ESET Smart Security firewall as NT isnt as versatile as the first option....

at each changed step pressing "disconnect" then "reconnect" and waiting the the popup to return true or false , open a cmd shell and type ping6 newszilla6.xs4all.nl or any other IPv6 URL should be enough to tell you if the tunnels started working for you.

what are your speeds you guys getting on eweka

mine seems to be at 300 to 350

let me know i am using the go6 and grab it

seems to be the easiet way to get it up and running.. its still working

sorry if this is offtopic but it is not necessary to turn off your firewall im with comodo firewall(default setting) and ipv6 tunnel works perfect but i suppose it depend on the firewall

Found an easier way to get IPv6 without the need for a tunnel broker eg. Go6 tunnelbroker.net or SixxS.

Easiest way is if you have utorrent goto Option/preferences/General
then click the tab that says Install IPv6/teredo
and walla IPv6 connection straight out the box with SabNzbd+

must have windows Vista or Windows XP with atleast Service Pack 2

If I am behind a router that does not work for me. Should we set something else?

I have set this up using the Go6 method. However I cannot get my alt.binz to connect. I am using the bat with this
Code:
netsh interface portproxy add v4tov6 listenport=1119 connectaddress=news.ipv6.eweka.nl connectport=119
netsh interface portproxy add v4tov6 listenport=1118 connectaddress=newszilla6.xs4all.nl connectport=119

cd C:\Program Files\altbinz\
altbinz.exe

Now I can use the SABnzb program to download no problem, however I would prefer to use my alt.binz. Everytime it loads it says it cannot connect to either the eweka or newszilla servers. I am using WinXP and have my wireless connection shared and also went ahead and shared ports 118, 119 and 1119, 1118. When I visit kame.net and Go6 I see that I do have the IPv6 connection but I just cannot figure out why my alt.binz wont connect but SABnzb can. Anyone got any ideas?

I have the latest version of the client, but the connection is painful. It disconnected and I don't get IPv6 connection.

I think that the connections by clients or ipv6 tunnels are pure utopia, as that malfunction and are many many problems. Just read the forum go6 to realize it :(

In your server connection for NewsBin you enter this?

news.ipv6.eweka.nl
and
port 119?

Try it will a different client and see if you get that error.

You have to have IPv6 installed for you to connect, by using one of the guides in the beginning of this thread.

I don't use NewsBin.

In my server connection for newsleecher, grabit or altbinz I enter this:

Server: 127.0.0.1 or localhost
port: 1119

I've Windows XP SP3 and I Think that I've installed Ipv6.

Thanks.

Thanks for the great guide SonsOfLiberty!

Worked perfectly. Speeds are naturally a little unstable (15-250kbs) and I seem to get alot of incomplete files when the post is older than 50 day.

But I wont complain about anything thats free :)

it was working fine an hour before but now i get

2009-04-19 04:31:19,585 WARNING [downloader] Thread [email protected]:119: timed out
2009-04-19 04:31:20,742 ERROR [newswrapper] Failed to connect: (10061, 'Connection refused') [email protected]:119

a temp thing or have they now closed the free access?

its time to talk IPv6 news peering in the old style, were we the end users all setup our own IPv6 small newsservers and setup news pulls and share or Pool each others news servers over our limited ISP upload WANs using SABnzbd+ as the multi server front end perhaps...

a quick search gives a few things but i dont know if they are true IPv6 capable

so lets talk IPv6 news peering with each other over a grass roots IPv6 filesharingtalk community...

is http://go6.net/4105/freenet.asp what we need to start all this off so we appear to all be on the same virtual LAN/WAN, how about IPv6 DNS, name servises or IPv6 DHT ? etc http://bamboo-dht.org/tutorial.html

The Gateway6 Client works perfectly... but I've yet to get any newsreader (client) to work properly... including those that are known to be IPv6 compatible.

You have to use the Go6 client or sTunnel for that to work...I can't get it to work without using one of those clients, both tutorials are at the beginning of the thread, that command I used in newsleecher and worked fine, but I had the go6 client running though too.

See I could never figure that out either, I just used SABnzb because it worked flawlessly, so there is some kind of hard code to use for the other clients, and I have no idea what it is.
