Hi Janie, and welcome to the board!
I'm posting a new thread for you because your post was on a thread that was a couple of years old. The moderators want us to start new threaRAB rather than post on a previous thread that is more than three months old. :)

A few years back we lived in a rural area and my husband's group health insurance was a joke. The doctors on the island where we lived were also a joke! My husband made pennies compared to teachers in other areas. I went to one of the local health department clinics and they were wonderful! I got better care than I did from the regular doctor's office. They looked at a paystub and calculated what our charge would be. I paid $18 for my appt, which included x-rays! Some people paid nothing, some paid more. I got great care there! Even when we decided to get private insurance for me and the kiRAB, which was actually much less expensive than hubby's group plan, and our appts would be covered, I continued to go to the clinic. The doctors were compassionate and knowledgeable and I thought they were quite thorough.

If you don't know where clinics in your area are, call your local health department. You should be able to find a nuraber in the blue section of your phone book. I love these local clinics! Everyone can get good health care!

I hope this helps,
Emily

I couldn't agree more with Blue. Recently I had no insurance as well and desperately needed medical care. I found a sliding fee scale clinic which could also do x rays. Even though I have insurance again I am still going to that clinic because the doctors and staff were wonderful and compassionate. The facilities are also really nice and bran new, so don't be afraid that it would be some sort of dump (I was before I went). They can prescribe the meRAB you need and do x-rays, but unfortunately my clinic couldn't do anything else for me regarding my spinal problems.
Definitely look into it.

Hi Emily, Actually, I've been on the boarRAB for quite some time. I was asking about the free clinic not for myself, but for the another person who was posting and having a difficult time making enRAB meet. But that's o.k.:):) I thought we weren't allowed to post to anything over a year old. Wish I had the rules printed out from when I first signed up:(....Janiee....Ohhhhh....lol....I see what your saying; the post is from 2007!!!! I didn't notice that when I posted- just saw the last entry by someone else that was from 2010. Sorry. Janiee08

Ah, I should have noticed it was a response to the previous poster. I hope that person comes back and sees this. :)
