There is no objectivity because there is nothing to be objective about.
There is nothing to stop the GM genes from spreading through wind blown
pollen and fertilzing non-GMO fields. GM crops are rapidly taking over and
what is being discovered about them is anything but harmless. They really
are very bad, the ruin essential soil biology, they require more, not less
herbicides and pesticides and the nutritional value of the food produced is
lower, not higher. Then you have the laws that can jail farmers for keeping
seeds since those seeds are a licensed and patented product.

What a pile of baloney. There's nothing inherently wrong
with GMO's. It's a tool that can be used just like any
other. When it's used to make a crop more resistant to
herbicide so higher levels levels can be used, if there
are any problems with that, it's a problem with the
herbicide, not the GMO.

Taking a gene from one food and putting it another is not
likely to cause any problems at all. If it makes the food
grow quicker, taste better, or have more vitamins, that's
all good. There are some foods which have parts that
naturally contain toxins, such as the leaves of rhubarb
and potatoes. In those cases, any modified form needs
to be checked for those toxins, but that's already being
done, in spades.

There is a vocal minority who fears GMO's with an almost
religious zeal. They don't understand GMO's so GMO's must
all be bad. This is an anti-scientific point-of-view,
just like the people who militate against childhood
vaccination. Their ignorance, fueled by scaremongering
media, is a drain on society.

There are real safety issues with food, such as nitrate
and nitrite curing salts for meat, poor sanitation in
many farms, and overuse of antibiotics. But GMO's are
not inherently a safety issue except in the imaginations
of the ignorant. Raising GMO's as a safety issue is a
distraction from real safety issues, and so harms us all.
