Frakking Oil Filter is leaking again

Don't know if it's a common problem with the C90. Look for an old seal stuck to the mating surface. The old double gasket gremlin has bitten quite a few people over the years.

Well I was going to try the Napa, but it was 11 bucks, for 2 bucks more I got the K&N so I'm going to try it.

I'm thinking that they're not tightening it enough when they change the oil. It used to be 1/4-1/2 turn after gasket contacts the base. This was so loose I could unscrew it by hand. The manual says 2 full turns after gasket contacts the base. I managed to get it to 1 3/4 maybe a litte more. Rode it around for a while then stopped and let it sit for a couple hours. No leaks so far. It was so bad that every time I stopped it would drip 4 or 5 drops. Not a ton, but for a newer bike that shouldn't happen.

I'm going to now. I had them do it largely for convenience. It was only about 20 bucks more than I'd pay doing it myself. It's a new type of shop that offers 30 minute oil changes and tire installation. Actually a great concept. Great guys too, they've helped me out quite a bit, like trailering my bike to the dealer for no charge when the Stator went out a block from their shop one morning etc.

From what I've been told, my type of bike has been the only problem one for them. The first time they changed it, I got it home, came out in the morning and it had leaked out on my garage. The guy drove 10 miles to my house with new oil/filter and swapped it out. Turns out the brand they were using had a known issue with c90/vl 1500's. Swapped out for an emgo, worked great until about 200 miles before I was going to get it changed again, then started dripping. Took it back, they swapped it out, same thing.

I'm going in for a tire change today (Stealer wants 190 for the tire plus install), they're charging me 191 including installation for the Excedra 180 70 15 whitewall. I'm going to see what they think they're supposed to tighten it to.
