Fox News Audience Doubles Down on MSNBC, CNN in August - Multichannel News

[h=3]MCN Staff -- Multichannel News, 8/29/2012 12:22:00 AM[/h]Scoring the 10 most-watched shows in the news sector, Fox News Channel finished August third in primetime among ad-supported cable networks.
Fox News Channel, which ranked fourth if non-commercial Disney Channel is included in the mix, averaged 1.82 million viewers in primetime, according to Nielsen live + same-day data. That compared with 811,000 for MSNBC and 425,000 for CNN, respectively, good for 21st and 36th.
In the key 25-to-54 demo, Fox News averaged 332,000 of those watchers, versus 258,000 and 123,000 for its competitors.
Gauged on a total-day basis, FNC averaged 1.08 million and 254,000 in the so-called news demo, compared with 485,000 and 175,000 for MSNBC, whose coverage during the month included action from the 2012 London Olympics, and 326,000 and 96,000 for CNN. 
As mentioned, FNC secured the top 10 programs in cable news based on total viewers; and claimed 12 out of the top 15 programs based on Adults 25-54
The top 5 among viewers: The O'Reilly Factor (2.6 million); Hannity (2.12 million; Special Report with Bret Baier (1.86 million; On the Record (1.78 million; and The Five (1.76 million).
