Has anyone noticed that BEV now has duplicates of both HD feeds of CBS and Fox down in the 471-474 Channel range? I don't recall there being anything on those channels before.

I wonder what's up with that.

Bell is just grouping all the HD NFLST games together. What I don't understand is why they don't turn off channels 471-474 when the games aren't on to save bandwidth. It doesn't make any sense to have duplicate feeds of these channels 24 hours/day.

They wouldn't have duplicate feeds of the same channel, they just map the same channel to two locations in the guide.

I tried tuning into them (as I don't subscribe to the West Coast Feeds in SD) but all I get when I tune them in is a green screen:(

previous poster is right, its the same bandwidth used regardless how many CBS HD's they put in the guide. If they wanted to, they could put like 10 of them and still use 13Mbps or is it like 12 or 9 by now?

So they can use the space on one satellite transponder to send the HD signal to my Bell HD receiver and then put it into 10 different channel locations?

You have to have an HD receiver to "see" them as they are HD channels.

Yes, it's called remapping. Rogers for example has all the HD channels in the 500's, but then remaps these channels to be in the particular theme they are also in - like Sports, Timeshift, Lifestyle, etc (next to the SD channels of a similar theme.

These aren't simply remapped channels though. I am a brand new HD customer, so I was upset that the normal HD network channels weren't showing certain programs in HD so I tried to watch them on the 400 level channels instead.

It didn't work, as the channel broke up constantly, but while the normal FOXHW (823) was showing "Kitchen Nightmares" in SD, it was in full (albeit broken up and unwatchable) HD on FOXHW 474.

So I'm not sure what's going on there, but it's upsetting that shows on the normal US networks that are originally in HD aren't passed on to us.

Kitchen Nightmares, and Survivor are two shows that are not shown in HD on BEV as far as I can tell. It is sort of annoying when I call up a friend on Shaw cable and he's watching these programs in HD with no trouble.

None of the reality shows are in HD on any provider. The picture does look a little bit better in HD, but it is still only an SD upconvert. The only prime time show that should be in HD and is not is the NBC comedy 'Scrubs'.
