Fourth of July episodes

Have you noticed how TV shows had their Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Valentines, St. Patrick's, Easter, and April Fools, specials. But you hardly see any Fourth of July specials? I guess it's because there are usually reruns during the Summer so it's kind of hard to have July 4th episodes.

The only shows I can think of that had July 4th episodes were....

The Simpsons when they were vacationing in a small town and Homer tried to buy some illegal fireworks.

And South Park where the town tried to celebrate with the world's biggest paper snake since fireworks became illegal.

I think the reason why they don't have Fourth of July episodes is because that it is strictly an American thing and they don't have it in other countries.

These days (with international distribution of TV shows and global-spanning media conglomerates) I wouldn't be surprised if this was one reason why, though there are some other specials produced that're USA-specific, such as the occasional Thanksgiving episode.

Another probable reason is that unlike Christmas (with the plethora of toys) or Easter/Halloween (with the plethora of candy), there's nothing to specifically sell to children marketing/advertising-wise about the Fourth---fireworks sales these days are restricted to adults in many places (unlike when I was a kid and could buy them at the drugstore), and barbecue grills and charcoal aren't exactly something to push to kids. ;-)

But to try to answer the question anyway:

- Tiny Toon Adventures' "How I Spent My Vacation" features a segment centering around the Fourth of July.

- Here Comes Peter Cottontail: the special features time-travel to other holidays, including the Fourth of July, where Peter tries to con two kids into thinking his Easter eggs were firecrackers...

- The Simpsons: "Camp Krusty" features what I assume is the Fourth of July---Homer brings fireworks to his and Marge's picnic.

Would cartoons about the American Revolution count? If so, there's "Bunker Hill Bunny", the Bugs Bunny cartoon where he's fighting as a minuteman, vs. Yosemite Sam fighting for the British.

That one ("Summer Of 4 Ft. 2") I always remember for one of it's classic quotes. "Celebrate the indepnence of your nation by blowing up a small part of it".

I think "Revolution" (as Nygma mentioned) is the best example of an Indepdence day toon in a relatilvey dry field of shows not really doing 4th of July cartoons.

There's also the early short Yankee Doodle Mouse.

But this was set during the school year where nephew Clyde needed to pass his history test, but thanks to Bugs ended up wearing the dunce cap, making him very angry with his uncle.

There was also the short Egged On Eagle in which a bald eagle teaches Sweetie Bird on how to be an eagle, which included a scene on how to be the symbol of America with a 4th of July fireworks display. This however, resulted in his getting blasted and losing his feathers.
