Four years ago I had a Discectomy done and since then I have been in even more pain. I have lose of feeling in my left leg off and on, tingling; most of the time I am not able to put pressure on my left leg due to the fact that at times when I do my leg will give completely out on me. I am once again going through therapy but my Back Dr. said "There is nothing phsyically (sp) wrong with me but the fact that I'm overweight", which I am taking medication to help me lose this weight. My reg. Dr has put me on pain medication and muscle relaxer's to help (which doesn't even lighten up the pain). But yet I am unable to walk or stand more than five or ten min.s at a time without pain being so bad that I am actually crying. Its hard for me to even sit for than a few min.s as well. I've been going to therapy three times a week now for the last month and it doesn't seem to be helping any at all. I have to have help getting in and out of bed, going to the bathroom, getting something to eat or drink. It takes no joke anywhere from two to three hours just to go by food for the month. I am no longer able to even hold my nephew who's only three months old now.

My question is: Is this normal?

>>>>>>>> Personally, I would find a new doctor! If you are in this much pain and the therapy isn't helping and your doctor is blowing you off, you need to find someone who will take a fresh look. You should have a new MRI for starters because not being able to sit, walk, stand, etc indicated that you have new problems that need to be diagnosed.

Find an orthopedic spine specialist (my personal choice) or a neurosurgeon who will best be able to read the results of an MRI and know best how to go about helping. A word of caution: if surgery is recommended, get a second opinion about what neeRAB to be done and why. If the 2 doctors don't agree, get a 3rd opinion. You want to be very sure you are doing the right thing.

Please continue to post and let us know how you are doing.
