FOTA killed my n80?!

So I checked to see if there is any updates via FOTA, everything proceeded as normal like last time.

When the phone restarted now its stuck at the Nokia Logo, after 2 minutes it shows "system error", the screensaver clock still comes up but now its a blank screen. I have to take out the battery to restart the phone and this loop goes on.... the phone still charges

Is there anyway I can fix this myself or would I have to send it out for flashing to iunlock?? Would I be able to reflash this through my computer with phoenix??

Please help

Thanks

did u try a hard reset??? like pushing the green dial key, star, and 3, and power button... or its something like that.. i'd try that!!

I recently owned an N80ie. Since when did a Nokia have the ability to update it's Firmware over the air? Has anyone else had success doing/trying this?

edit: Never mind....I used that little search button
...anyway, I hope this becomes available for all wifi enabled Nokias. It makes no sense to not offer this type of service if the N80 can handle it. I wish I would have paid attention when I had it....would have been interesting to at least try it.

lol I bet you skipped a beat as the thought ' did I just brick my N80 ??? ' crept in!!

I know that feeling... went thru a similar experience with the N73.. but, like you've already realized and been told, a hard reset fixed it!!

Rejoice!

Not sure if this has been solved already, but in reply to the original poster's PM, yes, we can fix and reflash phones in this condition. Just select the Dead Phone option when placing your order on our website.

Wireless is much more secure because there is no cable to knock, thus bricking your phone. With the update on the phone itself, the only thing that could wrong is the battery running flat, or you taking the battery out, or switching the phone off midway through the update. But you deserve to have it happen if any of these things occur

My biggest fear while updating is the possibility of losing your internet connection. I wish Nokia would allow us to download the entire file and install it off-line. I'm not sure what kind of advantage the competitors could gain with the files at their disposal. Through Phoenix, people seem to have access to the files anyway. Maybe a temporary password could be dispatched that needed your IMEI to operate. At the very least i'm happy Nokia is starting to use mini-usb rather than the pop-port.

The file is downloaded before the update begins. It's not as if it downloads and updates at the same time! That'd be maddness because you'd be screwed if your net connection went down for whatever reason.

lol...I was a late bloomer with the N80! I waited until the N80ie prices dropped! I wish they would make this feature available for all wifi enabled nokias.
