I'm planning to travel to the Philippines later in the year and would like to combine it with some light study. I'm thinking of enrolling in a short/certificate course [like TAFE in Australia].

1. Will I need to obtain a student visa if I'm only planning to be there for a few months [alternatively I could reclaim my Filipino citizenship although I havent looked into the advantages/disadvantages of that] or is it ok to study while I'm there on a tourist visa? - I'm also thinking of studying in a small-mid tier institution as opposed to the major Universities/Colleges[do major uni's colleges offer short courses?] because I'm guessing a student visa may not be a preqreuisite for admission there.

2. I am also interested in enrolling in a language school to help me learn Tagalog - are there many schools that offer courses for foreigners? [I know, I can just learn it from mingling/socialising, but I want to understand sentence structure and grammar in-depth.]

3. And finally... have other people done this?!?!

oh - extra information about the short course - I'm a business graduate with a double major in accounting and finance so a course or school that offers courses that would compliment my study would be of interest although I'm very interested in other fields too.

Someone told me to just arrange it all when I get there and that schools wont worry about student visa's as long as you can afford to pay. The thing I'm worried about is the duration of the course/semester as I dont want to wait 1 month for the new semester to start OR have to depart prior to completing it. Sorry my questions arent organised well. I've tried doing research but my lack of knowledge regarding visa's and the education system in the Philippines hinders my efforts.

ANY INFO IS GREATLY APPRECIATED AS I NEED TO BOOK BEFORE MARCH 31 OR MY TRAVEL VOUCHER EXPIRES (.__.)
