I have a 2002 Ford Escort ZX2. When taking the car onto the interstate, regardless of whether or not the engine is cold, when I rev it up to higher RPMs to get up to speed, I notice the smell of burning oil in the car. I can only smell it for a few minutes and then it is gone. If I were to leave the interstate and then get back on in a relatively short time period, I do not notice the smell. If I let the car sit for a while and then rev it up to high RPM, the smell returns for a few minutes.
The car does not seem to be leaking oil, nor are there any other obvious problems. I will note that it is a bit overdue for an oil change. Any ideas where the smell is coming from?
