i have a ford windstar 99 3.8l v6 engine
i start the car one day and engine light is on
engine starts vibrating,engine has high rpm at cold start
when engine is warm the rpm drops below 500
and the car stalls after a few minutes of idle
while driving at low speed(coming to a stop sign, or turning)
engine light would blink and would feel that engine will stall, loss of power when braking
there is an unburned gas/egg nog smell
in oct i changed engine oil /fluids for winter season
and replaced the car starter
replaced brake pads/flushed brake fluid
i drove maybe 3000 KM /1800 Miles in winter months oct- march
last month i started the car one day and it got check engine light
at cold-start the engine rpm would be around above 1000 rpm
after a few minutes of warming the engine the car rpm
would drop to 500 or maybe 400 rpm
and the engine would i start vibrating
the engine runs with low rpm at idle
the engine would stall when driving at low speeds
also the engine check light would blink and there will be
partial loss of break/power steering when driving at low speeds
so i thought i would do some basic tuneups for engine misfire
did the following
1- had the spark plugs & wires replaced
2- had engine oil & filter changed for spring
3- had power steering oil flushed
4-fuel filters flushed and replaced
5- fuel injectors cleaned
6- transmission oil replaced
after changes the car seemed to drive fine for a week
but then the engine started to vibrate even more when i put it in Drive(doesn't stall as much )
but if i put the car in Reverse the car RPM would drop and it would stall
if i leave the car in Neutral the vibration would be less the if it was in gear
if i drive over 60km/35mph the car would drive without vibrations but
can feel that engine doesn't have enough power and
it takes longer for it to accelerate when pressing the gas pedal
also the transmission takes time switch gears
( sometimes the car accelerates normally as i press the gas pedal)
and transmission would switch gears from normaly
there is an unburned gas /egg nog odor after driving the car for a while
i tried to scan the vehicle with simple mepd II reader but without any luck
so i decided to:
1-change airfilter
2- cleaned the idle air control valve and reset check engine light( removing car battery 30 minutes)
3- checked fuse boxes/panels all fuses look in good condition( didnot find any burnt fuses)
after doing this the car had engine light off
1 week later the engine light is back
does anyone have any suggestions what the next step would be or what the problem might be i would really appreciate it if anyone can help me find a solution
