Ford vs Honda which Auto maker is better ?

I have 3 questions:

1) Which out of the two is a better car maker and why: Honda or Ford ?
2) In a direct comparison between Ford Escape (2006 model) and Honds CRV (2006 model) who wins ?
3) If you were to recommend any good used reliable SUV's to buy which one would you suggest ?
