My 2003 F150 was borrowed by a family member and they drove it 8 hours pulling a heavy trailer in overdrive. Now it won't shift into overdrive. Everything else works fine though. I took it to a Ford dealership and they said I need a whole new transmission. I doubt that you would need a new transmission just because it won't shift into overdrive. Does this sound right or should it be a cheaper fix?

Sounds like you overlaoded the truck and burned the friction disks out of the overdrive clutch pack. You don't need a whole new trans but I'm not sure how much to repair the overdrive in your truck. I had this done on a Hyundia Excel and it cost me $380. Will be alot more if the truck is 4wd. Check all your fuses (for OD solenoid) and the OD switch just in case tho.
