ok i got a 1993 ford ranger and it worked fine for months and it made a sound while it was on it blows air but not cold now and the noise dissappeared what is it and how much will it cost to replace by a mechanic?
Sounds like your compressor. You could buy a can of ac recharge for about $20 that an autozone rep can show you how to fill, but if that doesn't work then you'll need a compressor and if you get a new one installed by a professional you're looking at $500-$800. I would call around to junk yards to see if they got a good one, then find someone to throw it in for $100.
