I went on holiday for a week and my car was left on the drive on an incline, the first time i started it, it made a really loud knocking sound from the engine and sounded like it was miss firing, i drove to the petrol station and put fuel in (as it was very low) and started the engine again and it was fine. I think it was because it was left standing but am worried now, what could have caused this??

todays gas is hard on cars use octaneboost104 it will reduce moisture in your fuel burn cleaner & help unclog plugged fuel injectors & any build up around the valves, its probably bad gas & the motor was dry from sitting, the oil settles & parts are dry ( no lube) leave more gas in it next time & if it sits off & on quite a bit use 100% sinthetic motor oil, its more money but it impregnates itself to the metal & is still slippery long after, good luck hopefully nothing

The oil took a long time to lubricate the bearings in your engine, thus producing your noise.Check your oil level it could be low.No doubt the slope helped to drain the oil from the top of your engine.
