i have a 1997 ford probe and the dome light will not turn off no matter what i do. it is making the battery die and the light has been on for a long time now. does anyone know how i can turn it off so i have the battery power to start it in the morning?

replace the dome light switch and in most ford probes the light switch is connected to the headlight switch and operates both the dome and the lights and has a delay timer and goes off after 5 to 10 seconds and is a easy fix too and can be bought at a junk yard for a very low price and isn't hard to install hope this helps and have a great day and god bless.

quick fix is remove the globe, but you will probably find that one of the door switches has either become disconnected and touching the the body or you have a wire touching an earth.(sounds silly but make sure the switch on the dome light is not in the on position)

Until you find the problem, you can take the fuse off every time you leave your vehicle. One or both switches located between the door and the body must be faulty or bad wire. If you don't care about the light, just remove The bulb.

Good luck.
