Iv'e asked this before, but here it goes. I just bought a msd pro billet distributor for a 289, 302 block. I have a 347 stroker engine it's a carbed engine. The distributor that was in it was a motorcraft part number for it was 12127 I believe. Anyways my magnetic pickup went out in it, thats why I purchased the msd. Since I already have a msd 6al and a blaster coil. Anyways, my car will run fine for a little while with the motorcraft distributor in it, like I said though the magnetic pickup is going bad in it. So when I went to try and install the msd distrib it wont do nothing. All it will do is backfire through the carb and nothing more. No matter where I put it.Iv'e pulled the engine to tdc over ten times trying to get it to work. Still no luck, isn't the rotor supposed to be facing 1 oclock when setting the engine at tdc? Cause thats what my motorcraft distrib faces when I time it, and it works fine. Or am I wrong? Could it be that maybe im a tooth off while putting it in at 1 oclock? See it faces at 1 oclock but you can turn it somewhat between 12 and 1 oclock. Please as much info to help me out would be appreciated.
