Where to begin?
I have a '97 Mazda B2300 and '03 Ford Ranger XLT (very similar trucks). In the past few years, the check engine lights have been on almost non-stop in both. I have taken them both in to the shop multiple times, had the diagnosis ran, and had the work done to fix the issue(s).
Every time I've had the work done, the light has gone off. But within 2 or 3 days, the light always comes back on. It's extremely frustrating, as the "check engine" light might as well be the "looks like you're out $200" light. So far, none of the issues have been with critical systems, but I have had them fixed "incase something happens down the road."
The reason I am lumping both vehicles together is because they are so similar in build and that the issues with the trucks always seem to be something to do with fuel something-or-rather (example: had the fuel EGR valve replaced in the Mazda and the gas cap replaced in the ranger....light keeps coming on).
I wish I had better details, but I don't. I'm hoping someone out there has had similar issues with their Ranger or Mazda pickup?
Any suggestions or ideas??? Thanks!
