my car had cracked pipes which were leaking water so we fixed them because the car was over heating and now it is struggling to start and it keeps stalling and is blowing white smoke from the exhaust and the engine bay ??

yes.The cylinder head is warped! the water is getting into the cylinders and causing the white smoke.

you need a remanufactured head, and a new head gasket. WHile you are at it replace the timing belt as this is a good time to do so.(if they break you have to replace the head again or sometimes the whole engine) they only last 90,000 miles or so. Change the thermostat too they are cheap.

cars with aluminum heads warp the heads when overheated.
