I have a 2009 Ford G6e Turbo that about a month ago developed a ticking noise problem on start up.
About 3 ticks a second and then after a minute it's quiet as a mouse. I've taken it back to the dealer twice now and was told the first time that the exhaust manifold had loosened, they had re torqued it and because it was loose it created a gap allowing air to pass through. Once the gasket had a bit of heat in it it expanded and the noise is gone, this sounded logical to me so off I went a happy customer.
2 Weeks later and the noise is back so off I go back to the dealer to have the Harmonic Balancer replaced as apparently this was now the problem and again no noise.
Today 2 weeks later the noise is back and after Xmas I'm off to kill the dealer, but before that was wondering if anyone knows exactly what the problem is?
I have heard this noise on not just Turbo models but Falcons fitted with the 4.0L six before, so I believe it's common but WTF is the problem exactly?
Thanks for any help......
