ook..
well basically about a month ago i did the clutch on my focus, removed both the lower arms and gearbox mount and pulled off the box.
Put it all back together its been fine
now tonight...2000 miles later, i was coming up to a carpark and my steering was off. Was about a quarter turn left on the wheel and it was going straight, i found it a bit odd, as i came into the carpark i stopped to line up 2 park between 2 cars and i herd a god-awful clunk.
Got out to have a look and basically the passenger side wheel was being held in by the strut.
the wishbone was hanging out the knuckle, pulled the driveshaft clean out the box
I think the lowerarm came out the knuckle due to me not putting it in tight enough.
The driver side wheel is straight, and the passenger side wheel is as if its been fully locked to the left (last position the steering was at before i heard the clunking)
Nothing as far as i can see is broken, it just looks like the wishbone (lower arm) has fallen out.
Engine still runs but it won't drive and i can't push it.
Tomorrow planning to jack up the wheel and slip the wishbone back into the knuckle and Hope to hell it can move..then have it put on a trailer and taken home.
basically my question is..is anything broken? driveshaft come out the gearbox, wishbone hanging off, is the steering ok? Any ideas on what kinda work im looking at here?
Sorry about this btw im pretty crap at explaining things without the aid of rough sketches, u can add me on msn and i can explain better there @ [email protected]
Ford focus 1.8 TDCI 2002 Right hand drive (standard UK)
Wishbones fine, it has just slipped out.
Balljoint still in place and good as new, the wishbone just come out cause i didn't tighten it in the knuckle properly.
Can somebody explain why 1 wheel is straight and the other isnt, what have i done to the steering? if i turn the steering wheel it just goes back to the middle..
