Hello, my car broke down on me today and the RAC man said it could be the fuel pump (eeeek).
The car just cut out whilst driving and then when tried to restart it the engine turned over but didn't fire up and start.
He used some ezee start(?) which worked but then the engine died yet again and cut out.
Do you think this is the fuel pump? If so how much does this cost as I have heard it is very costly?
I have a V reg (think its 1999?), diesel 1.8 TDi if this helps any of you mechanical minded peeps.
Thank you for any help/guidance/assistance with this matter....xx

RAC bloke may be wrong...the easy start would strat it but it runs on it....it may be the fuel cut off valve on the top of your pump......full di pumps[new] are bloody expenseive but a second hand one will be about £80,easy for a mechanic to fit....but youll have to find out if you pump is 'codedd''[ immobilisedd]

there may be a fuel pressure problem or the pump has lost its memory your best bet is to take to a ford dealer and they can read the codes from the vehile or take to a diesel pump repair workshop, also have the fuel system checked you may have air leaks in the system, and check the fuel filter it may be blocked good luck mate hope i have been a help
