About 4 months ago the car started vibrating to the extent that the DVD screen attached to the back of the passenger seat was unwatchable. I noticed that the front tyres were incredibly worn on both the insides of the front wheels, so got them replaced, new back ones at the same time, the tracking done, the balancing done on all 4 wheels (twice) - no improvement whatsoever. Since then 2 mechanics have hoisted it up and had a look and neither can see what the problem is. It only occurs in 5th gear when accelerating, but it´s a real bone-shaker - the gearstick rattles like mad, everything wobbles, but then is fine as soon as you reach a constant speed or decelerate. The steering wheel hardly wobbles at all so I´m satisfied my tracking and balancing are fine, and both mechanics said the track rods look sound - anyone had a similar experience, its driving me nuts, what´s more I´m sure it is getting worse.
Thanks!
Thanks all - I keep stumbling back to the Constant Velocity joints while researching symptons, I´ll get that checked out. I think the DMF was introduced on the TDCI wasn´t it? So at least I can rule that out.
Thanks!
