ran into the back of something yesterday at about 20mph and smashed bonnet/bumper pretty badly, but it started fine and drove home.
I went to it later that evening and it wouldn't start, what could be the problem?
where's that? and could that kick in a while after the accident? because it started back up and drove home fine.
it's an s reg, so 98/99? i think that makes it mk4
no evidence of leaking from the radiator, but the bonnets crumpled so haven't been able to (get someone else to) have a look underneath.

Is there any water in the radiator?

If you nuged the rad, you could have cracked it and its possible for it to have leaked out totally and your engine to have overheated.

Depends how old a car it is. I had an old one (we're talking pre-milennium here!) and bent the bumper on a volvo's tow bar. It's dead easy to do at 10mph on a volvo's tow bar! Mine didn't suffer though. Wonder if you might have knocked something loose? A loose wire could prevent the ignition. Does it turn over at all or is it completely dead? Try the Ford Fiesta forum - link below - they may be able to answer more specifically.
