I'm almost 16 and I'm looking at getting a car. I had my mind set on getting a used car because I could get a better car for the same price as a new "bare-bone" car. I initially had wanted a new Ford Fiesta or a Hyundai Accent, but a used Mazda 3 (2009 or newer, preferably) is really, really appealing haha! BUT, my parents told me recently that with a new car, I would be able to get a lower interest rate, but the car will lose a lot of value the second I drive it off of the lot.
Sooo, I'm torn. I am debating on whether I should find a new 2011 Hyundai Accent or Ford Fiesta (it will be cheaper than the 2012 and still be new) or get a 2009/2010 used Mazda 3 with 30-40k miles on it. What car is more reliable? Which one will last the longest? I am in 10th grade and I really don't want to even consider getting a new car until I am out of college in 6 years, and we don't even have a highway around here so the car have mostly abusive town mileage. Which of the three cars will I be happier with?
" I really don't want to even consider getting a new car until I am out of college in 6 years," That's kind of misleading. I don't want to have to consider REPLACING the car I'm getting soon, and not necessarily with a new one.
