i have a 2003 ford fiesta 1.25 lx and was just wondering when i should be changing gear according to the revs as there is no red area on my rev meter?
hope this makes sence
thanks

lol....yes it makes sense but it all depends on the road conditions...around 3000 will save fuel ,around 4500 if your in a hurry...dont rev it past 6000...lol....loved the question...

i have fiesta forget the rev counter, its the sound of the engine, espescially when going up hills

whether there is red or not on the rev counter, it would be pretty daft to take your engine up to that kind of speed before changing gear anyway, it will probably quadruple your weekly fuel bill as far as I'm concerned!

Also, it would be pretty dangerous to drive looking down at the the rev counter every so often to see if it is time to change gear or not - your eyes should be on the road in front and behind!

If you have recently passed your test, maybe getting your old instructor to give you a few sessions in your car would help - doing pass plus or something will also build your confidence.

If you have been driving for a while, might be worth having some refresher lessons - in your vehicle, the instructor can then teach you how to drive without the need to look down all the time.

Let's face it, you wouldn't look down at your feet when to see where your foot is if you saw a red light in front of you would you :)

good luck :)
