Ford fiesta azura tick over problem.?

Hi there, Iv got a 1995 ford fiesta azura and yesterday, just after starting the car, the revs would drop really low and the car would almost stall. Thought it was a little strange, but when i got going it was fine. Then i tried to start it last night and it stalled... now it wont start at all. Just wondering if anybody has any ideas what it might be.

Other points:

The car has no fuel injection

I was driving through quite deep puddles yesterday..
