Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCi - Cannot select 5th gear?

I was driving to work today when I noticed I cannot put the car into 5th gear whatsoever? When I change into 5th gear, the gearstick stays in the 5th position & and doesnt pop back to neutral.

What seems to be the problem here?
Sensible answers please. And no Americans or Candian users please! UK & EU answerers welcome
