Ford Falcon Using Synthetic Oil?

Hello, I own a 1962 ford falcon and I was asked by my father I used synthetic oil. I was told a while ago that i shouldn't use syth. oil with an old car because the seals aren't good enough or designed to hold that kind of oil and it will leak out, however i'm not sure of this. So if you could tell me if it's okay to use synthetic. if so, what makes it different than older cars, and if not. reasons why. Thanks. Rob

Synthetic oil will not cause an engine , no mater what age , to leak more . It just isn't as economical to use syn. oil if it already leaks .
