ford f350 v10 exhaust?

i was considering improving my exhaust on my truck it already has straight pipe 3in cat back with a cherry bomb on it... would chopping my cat off (sense its already blown out) affect the performance in anyway thats bad? if so how do i improve it without having to buy a muffler
