Ok, i have a 2000, Ford F150 and the alarm system isn't working properly. The Normal working alarm does this; When i lock the car the alarm beeps once, and if a door is open it won't beep again until the door closes. If the doors are closed, it will beep then like 1 second later beep again. The beeps are moderately quite. Not real loud. The locks always unlock, the problem is with the locking.
But what it is doing is; when i try and lock the car it does one of 3 things. (all done with remote)
1) I press the lock and it will just make the noise of when the locks pop up and down, but they will not go down to lock. But they will always unlock, just never lock. Also under the steering wheel by the pedals, which is where the alarm box is, makes a quiet clicking noise everytime.
2) when i click the lock button on the remote, it will beep once loudly, louder then the normal lock sound. And the locks do not lock.
3)Very rarely, like once out of 50 lock attempts my car will actually lock. but then will not again.
There is a red light next to the steering wheel on the left that comes on, i can push it but not sure if thats the theft light because there is a light in the dash that says theft.
If anyone can help.
