Can anyone please help. My dad has a 1997 ford escort 1.8 si and when driving it at 30mph or over there is a load knocking sound and vibration coming from the front of the vehicle. Wheel bearings look ok with no play and we have changed o/s and n/s driveshafts. It has an ib5 gearbox which goes into every gear smoothly but anyone know of common faults with these? Also when driving it the car feels very unstable, its the same feeling you get when driving on ice, the car just slides around the road. Also dont know if this is connected but when you accelerate the car veers to the left asthough the right driveshaft is spinning faster than the left causing a steering effect. Any help appreciated.
