I just replaced the spark plugs on my 1999 Ford Escort SE and also replaced the spark plug wires.
I started this morning and the first mistake I made was when pulling off the cables, I pulled on the cable instead of the boot and the wire pulled apart from the boot. I then decided to take out all the spark plugs at once, so that when i got back from the automotive store I would have that much done.
Well i got a ride from someone and read the chilton manual on the way there and saw that you should replace one at a time. I also read about setting the gap on the spark plugs, but after leaving the store. So I went back and got a spark plug gap wheel and he said that they should have all been gapped correctly! I had gapped them to match the old ones!
Long story short, the car will not start. I checked the cables to see if they are all seated correctly, etc. a thousand times. There are 4 cables and everything is very easily laid out. they are numbered 1-4 to match where to put them on the distributor and 1 is the longest cable and 4 the shortest.
I don't know what else to do at this point.
