i think there is a C clip that holds the cv join on to the shaft. there are normally fitted near the rear of the joint and if this is removed it can be done
I am fitting a new cv joint, the outer one on the near side. The cv joint is now out off the wheel hub and now ready to be taken off the drive shaft. should the cv joint just knock off.
