I have a 1977 F150 with the stock 400m and 3 speed automatic. I want to put a 4 speed automatic in behind the stock engine. Where can I find what transmissions will be compatibility. I am not worried about the speedo or anything as the such working. I dont use it anyhow. I want my engine RPM to be about 2250 instead of 3500 ish on the interstate. I will also be wanting to make it a 4WD before to long.
I should have explained a bit better. When I make it 4WD I will be setting the body on a Dodge 2500 series with a 12 or 24 valve diselse engine, the 400m with 4 speed auto will be going into my 67 custom one day, I am just setting up the package for the swap. and trying to get better use from my truck for now, if the set up works good in my truck it will be more than what I need in my car.
