I have a 1990 ford bronco. It has a 302 V8, The motor is going bad and it doesn't have the power i want. Im going to put a 8 or 9 inch suspension lift on it and i need a better motor with more power to turn the 38 inch wheels i have that i want to use. I started thinking that maby i could put a Turbo diesel motor in it from a F250. I have a machine shop and i could make mounts and cut the frame if i had to. would it be worth my time to put the motor and axles in it or would i tear the frame apart? Advice?

if you go turbo diesel just remember it weighs more and you will need to look into 3/4 axles and suspensions parts. You'll wanna box the frame and then look into the angle of the drive shafts cause i think the diesel engine and tranny with transfer case is going to be longer than the gas setup. Why not rebuild the 302 and drop a roots style blower or turbo charger it.

You need a 429 or a 460 gasoline engine, that would be cool...

Wouldn't you want much bigger tires after installing that much of a lift?

I don't know about the frame, but you would need a better transmission and transfer case, wouldn't you?

It's a 90, so it probably has a Borg-Warner transfer case??? The New Process 208s were awesome --- they would take anything!
